We’re continuing our weekly Bundesliga predictions with a near-13/1 Saturday treble from the fourth round of fixtures in Germany’s top division.
Matches in this competition are always well supported and invariably produce lots of thrilling goalmouth action for fans to cheer on.
Borussia Dortmund to beat Bayer Leverkusen @ 18/25
Dortmund have had plenty of time to dwell on a 3-1 defeat at Union Berlin before the international break and will be determined to get back on track. Last season’s runners-up had earlier beaten Bayern Munich in Germany’s Super Cup and netted eight times in Bundesliga triumphs over Augsburg and Cologne. Paco Alcacer has scored in five straight club games and both of Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifiers, while Jadon Sancho took his tally to five in seven outings with a double for England against Kosovo, so this is still a team to follow in our Bundesliga predictions.
Eintracht Frankfurt to win at Augsburg @ 21/20
Frankfurt had to rebuild after losing star strikers Luka Jovic and Sebastian Haller but some of the near-£100million brought in has been reinvested wisely, with Andre Silva’s loan signing from AC Milan adding to other eye-catching recruits, such as Sporting forward Bas Dost. The early signs have been encouraging from Adi Hutter’s new-look side, beating Hoffenheim and Fortuna Dusseldorf, either side of a narrow loss at RB Leipzig. Smooth progress has also been made in the Europa League, with Arsenal due to visit in the group-stage opener.
RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich to draw @ 29/10
Julian Nagelsmann has led Leipzig to three straight league wins since arriving from Hoffenheim, with nine goals scored, to put them top of the table. Germany striker Timo Werner has netted in all of those games, hitting a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory at Borussia Monchengladbach. This is the acid test of their title credentials, though, as Bayern recovered from a shaky start to the campaign by thrashing Mainz 6-1 after a 3-0 victory at Schalke, where Robert Lewandowski bagged a treble. Everything points towards a close encounter between two in-form teams.
