Leicester may have several injury problems to contend with but a weakened team should have no trouble winning their opening group game in the Europa League.
The Foxes have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League but still head into Thursday night’s match as firm favourites against their visitors from Ukraine.
This looks a perfect opportunity to get off to a confident start in Europe and we’re backing them to be leading at both half-time and full-time at 4/5 as our opening Leicester vs Zorya prediction.
A Look At Leicester City’s Betting Odds
Leicester made a flying start to the new season with three straight wins in the Premier League but that early momentum has stalled.
A 3-0 defeat at home to West Ham came out of the blue and was followed by a 1-0 loss at the same venue against Aston Villa, when Ross Barkley’s injury-time strike proved the difference.
Striker Jamie Vardy was absent with a calf injury which will also rule him out of the Europa League game, while centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is likely to be out for three months with a groin injury sustained on international duty with Turkey.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers was frustrated his team did not at least hold out for a draw against Villa after conceding so late on.
“I don’t think we deserved that, I thought we were the better team in the first half, got through them really well but we didn’t quite have that pass of quality,” he said.
“Second half it became a little bit more basketball and it is not that type of game we wanted.
“You are disappointed to lose that because if you can’t win it you don’t want to lose and to lose it in that way was disappointing.”
Vardy’s absence means Leicester will need other players to get into dangerous areas and wing-back James Justin is certainly capable of that.
He already has one goal to his name in the Premier League this season and appeals at 9/1 to score at anytime in the Leicester vs Zorya odds.
A Look At Zorya Lugansk’s Betting Odds
Zorya reached the final round of qualifying in the Europa League last season but were knocked out by Espanyol when a 2-2 draw at home was followed by a 3-1 defeat in Spain.
Last season’s third-place finish in their domestic league secured automatic qualification for the group stage this time around but they were 24 points behind champions Shakhtar and head to England in poor form.
One win from their first six games sees them languishing in the bottom half of the table and they have managed just one clean sheet, although they have also found the net in five of their six matches.
They have the potential to cause Leicester’s defence problems so a home win and over 3.5 goals at 21/10 completes our Leicester vs Zorya predictions.
LEICESTER 0-1 Aston Villa
ZORYA 1-1 Kolos Kovalivka – Vladislav Kochergin
