Norwich begin a Premier League season against Liverpool for the second time in three years hoping for a better outcome.
The Canaries, who lifted the Championship title once again, travelled to Anfield on the opening day in 2019/20 and went down 4-1 having trailed 4-0 at half-time.
Jurgen Klopp’s side to win and both teams to score once again is available at 6/4 and that is our opening Norwich vs Liverpool prediction.
A Look At Norwich City’s Betting Odds
Sporting director Stuart Webber admitted the Canaries had gone “into a war without a gun” on their last foray into the Premier League which ended with a whimper after 10 successive defeats.
This time around, City have converted the loans of Ben Gibson and Dimitris Giannoulis into permanent deals and landed Kosovo international Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen for what could turn into a club-record fee.
Goalkeeper Angus Gunn, son of Canaries legend Bryan, and Scotland international Billy Gilmour have also signed, the latter on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
USA international Josh Sargent comes in from Werder Bremen for £8m, Nice playmaker Pierre Lees-Melou is another capture, with only Emi Buendia departing for a club-record sale to Aston Villa.
While City lost 27 league games in their last top-flight season, they were competitive with 12 of those being by a one-goal margin and a further seven by two goals.
Norwich have some momentum while a number of Liverpool players will have a short turnaround after European Championship and Copa America duty.
With that in mind, Draw HT/Liverpool FT at 16/5 is our next pick when looking at the Norwich vs Liverpool odds.
A Look At Liverpool’s Betting Odds
Liverpool’s defence of their first top-flight title since 1989 did not go as planned as they ended the season 17 points behind champions Manchester City.
While the season-ending injury to Virgil van Dijk in October had a severe impact, Sadio Mane, Robert Firmino and Mo Salah also failed to sparkle on a consistent basis, although the latter did finish one goal behind Golden Boot winner Harry Kane.
At one stage, it appeared the Reds could miss out on Champions League football after finding themselves out of the top four.
But they clinched third place on the last day of the season following a 10-game unbeaten run as Leicester suffered a case of deja-vu as they missed out at the final hurdle for the second year on the trot.
Klopp has lost Holland international Georginio Wijnaldum to PSG on a free transfer but did bring in defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.
Andy Robertson picked up an injury in pre-season but Kostas Tsimikas looked comfortable in a 3-1 friendly win over Osasuna.
Liverpool have won on their previous seven visits to Carrow Road but five of them have been by just the one goal, as it was two years ago thanks to Sadio Mane’s solitary strike with 12 minutes remaining.
City will want to show they can be competitive so let’s make a 2-1 away win at 15/2 our final Norwich vs Liverpool prediction.
