The remaining quarter-finals feature in our latest bwin Grand Slam of Darts predictions and we have an 89/1 correct score double for Saturday night in Wolverhampton.
This event features the top stars from the PDC and BDO codes and has £450,000 in prize money up for grabs, with £110,000 going to the champion.
Gary Anderson to beat Michael Unterbuchner 16-9 @ 8/1
BDO qualifier Unterbuchner upset the odds when ending James Wade’s bid for a third straight TV title but we think he will be brought down to earth by Anderson.
The Flying Scotsman enjoyed a 5-2 triumph when they met at the start of the group stage and has since upped his game.
Anderson went on to record a 112.54 average when beating Ian White 5-1, accounted for Steve Hine by the same scoreline and then thrashed Wesley Harms 10-2.
The fourth seed has reached the semis at this tournament five times before and it is hard to see German underdog Unterbuchner stopping him from adding to that tally.
With the World Matchplay and UK Open titles already wrapped up this term, Anderson is sure to be all the rage in most Grand Slam of Darts betting tips.
Michael van Gerwen to beat Jonny Clayton 16-7 @ 9/1
The Ferret caused a stir when edging out Mighty Mike 5-4 during the group stage but it’s hard to see lightning striking twice.
Van Gerwen tasted defeat despite registering a 107.92 average and powered to 5-1 wins over Gary Robson and Joe Murnan in his other pool matches.
Michael Smith provided stiff opposition in the first knockout round, but the world number one battled through 10-8 with a 108.32 average and 11 maximums.
“I did the right things at the right moments,” said Van Gerwen. “I love playing games like this for the crowd, this is why we play darts.
“I want to keep playing to this standard for the rest of the tournament and I want to win.”
Clayton would pose problems if repeating the form of his group success and a 10-3 demolition of Krzysztof Ratajski, but that is a big ask.
He lost 6-0, 11-2 and 6-2 in previous meetings with Van Gerwen at various events and the Dutchman will be firing on all cylinders, so we’re expecting an emphatic revenge in our Grand Slam of Darts predictions.
